Let's not beat up Dan for creating a good work environment. A good work environment is not the same as huge cash comp. It is about input, team spirit, fairness, and good but not necessarily huge comp. I go down to Princeton every so often, and Rt 1 is lined with biotech and pharma cos. Getting recognized as a good place to work saves money by reducing turnover , helping you get and keep the best talent, and makes you get more from you employees without huger comp. So this is good for shareholders.

My current employer is on top of these lists in NYC for years. Believe me I would rather keep good people than be a training ground for others, and keep paying headhunters to replace turnover. Top people make a great company, and saying otherwise is not understanding how businesses succeed.
