That is all over the place. Scottrade security was breached a number of years ago. Someone got into the accounts, sold a ton of shares people had. (The people didn't lose anything because they had the money from the sells.) All the sells drove the stock down. Then the person who broke into Scottrade bought the stock as it dropped from all the sells. Scottrade had to notify all their customers that their security was breached.

Frankfurt market in Europe issued tons of fake shares for 500 penny stocks about 10 years ago and drove some companies into bankruptcy. The third time a fake share is traded it becomes a real share and dilutes the other shares.
