As an entrepreneur and investor, I can tell you that I have to look at companies much differently than just market cap. I don't consider this company (SUNW) a microcap. I look at things like how long have they been in business, do they have a competitive advantage, is it sustainable, do they have a disruptive technology. I know many of these things are hard to quantify, but I try and look at a bigger picture to see if they will meet my longer-time horizons.
So to clarify, I also look at longer time horizons, and also determine if the industry--in this case solar, has a long-term high growth outcome. Then I look at the company to see if if is also growing because the industry is growing, or growing in spite of an industry that's not growing, and then look at their competition to see how they're doing.
Anyway, that's my 2$!
