I am pretty sure most of the designs of this stock are by far shady and underhanded, however, in order to be a Market Maker in this or Any stock, they are tasked with rule to provide a bid/offer, provide liquidity and maintain fair and orderly markets. Many times market makers are buying stock they don't particularly want but requires by rule of law to provide 2 sides and liquidity.
