April 21-I began the morning pondering how much energy I could put toward transplanting after spending much of Thursday shoveling horse manure. A couple of coffees and some time with CC the Calico Cat in my lap, I had at it.

I held back 10 Cherokee Purple tomato plants for Jerry to sell. Sadly, I've given up that nice old man and decided they had to go into the soil here on the farm. I put in 3 the finish out the 12 on the slope.

I managed to get in some Rosa Bianca eggplants, bringing the total to 10, and peppers (up to 6). I also put in 2 Long Purple eggplants for Ali's portion.

Along the way I dug up soil where I emptied buckets of manure on the bed next to the ledge. And a portion of a raised bed on the patio. And I up potted some seedlings, including 2 asparagus.

I have 7 Cherokee Purple tomatoes I held for Jerry with no where to transplant them. I will break out the tiller and work the ground next to the fence along N. Tryon.

Oh, I almost forgot. I made a hill for some dark green zucchini. Six hills should be enough. Once zooks get started there's no stopping them.

While examining the Long Purple eggplants I noticed something interesting. Tiny spikes on the leaves and the stems. Somewhat like thorns.

Old Cadillacs never die. The finance company take 'em and faaaaade 'em away.
