IMO, just because someone has enough intelligence to obtain a PhD, doesn't mean that they are good at everything. I work in the Engineering arena and I have seen more than a few guys that blew me away with their knowledge and often tripped because they couldn't keep their own shoe laces tied. (I'm not kidding.)
This may very well be a situation where he needs to stay in his own lane and hire a experienced CEO.
But what the heck do I know? (I know I would never take my company public because of all the eyes on ANY mistake you made, not to mention people might curse me when I do. lol)

You'll need STRONG HANDS to hold the bag that others are selling you!
If you are going to tell others which stocks to buy and which to sell, are you therefore going to cover their losses if you are wrong?
