I think the patents are a legitimate concern. Provisional patents are only good for one year. If they don't apply for the regular patents within that time, the information becomes public. Anyone can then take that information and patent it as their own. I had a provisional patent years ago and that was the case. I am also sure that you couldn't extend or renew the provisional patent. If this is no longer true, by all means please enlighten me.
