AAOI - I'm generally distrustful of management who is too concerned about their stock price.

That said, there are many ways a company can fudge numbers to beat quarterly guidance. The fact they never updated full year guidance, or gave Q2 guidance, might be a sign they decided to pull revenue/earnings forward to boost Q1 numbers.
