RE:GE's 10MW superalloy turbine - ORNL/DOE Additive Manufacturing

GE's 10MW superalloy turbine, 7" diameter, weighs 150 pounds.
OK. The question is how does GE make this? They don't say in any of the articles I've seen.
The Arcam Q20plus has a build envelope of 13.78" Diameter X 14.96"
The Arcam A2X has a build envelope of 7.87" X 7.87" X 14.96"

The DOE/National Energy Technology Laboratory and the Oak Ridge National Lab has been working on what looks to be a related project.

Microstructure and Properties of Ni-based Components fabricated by Additive Manufacturing

Project Description

NETL is partnering with ORNL to optimize the additive manufacturing (AM) fabrication process to produce gas turbine components made of high-temperature nickel (Ni)-based Hastelloy X (HX) alloy.

Project Benefits

The developed technology is anticipated to be used to produce high-temperature gas turbine components as well as similar-size components for other advanced fossil energy applications.
