"prevent a huge scandal from breaking out" - I thought new admin would want a huge scandal to break out so he can expose the prior admin swamp for what it is. Many people voted for new admin because they wanted swamp behavior (from both parties) exposed. Sweeping all the profits of the GSEs reeks of swamp like behavior.

And yes perhaps Craig Phillips are meeting with Corker and pals because they need their votes - but as we've established, this whole debacle can be worked out without resorting to Congress. We've seen they can't get anything done.

Why haven't Phillips and Mnuchin been meeting with Tim Howard? - Someone who is very knowledgeable. They've been meeting with ICBA - but no confirmation that GSEs were discussed.

And then the silence - they have failed to make any sort of bullish statement in re FNF since prior to Nov. 8.

I'm still long FNMA and FNMAS, but there is a lot to be concerned about. Especially the fact that DOJ denounced Brown's dissent. If new admin is really against FHFA (Collins) - then why defend their conservatorship powers so vigorously?

What walks like a duck, talks like a duck and new admin isn't walking any differently than prior admin overall.
