Good morning Walk! I've been in your summers. Back in my corporate road warrior stages (glad I got over that), I used to travel there on business quite regularly.

The 114 degree blast of air when I left the hotel in the mid-morning was like walking out into a blow dryer. Granted, it was not humid, but 114 is uncomfortable no matter how dry it is.

I did find it interesting that when travelling around in a car, you could get an instant cooling wave just by leaning forward in your seat. The sweat that was happening between your back and the seat would evaporate off like an air conditioner coil.

We don't get that king of heat. I can't ever remember it being more than 95. Usually at around 93 degrees thunderstorms start and cool it back down. Florida is definitely not for westerners. Our humidity is stifling and constant, though I've felt worse humidity and heat visiting my mother in Chicago years back. It was 103, dead calm, humid and had mosquitos the size of blackbirds. Our summer afternoon rain storms are quite impressive and fun to watch.

Funny though, after 44 years of living here, there are many things about the summer that I prefer over the winters. People either love or hate Florida, there's no in between... I'm with the former.
