A lot of "News" these days is "paid content", infomercials, "sponsored content" etc, that doesn't get the same vetting as real news.
Media outlets will take $$ any way they can get it.

And politicians like the mayor will say "Sure !" when hearing of a proposal, without taking a second glance when things are just in the talking stage.

Everything changes when someone finally has to put up real money, and optimistic press releases are not enough.
Talk is free in penny-land.

"It is easier to fool someone, than to convince them they have been fooled."

For those that don't get it, it means that people need to be more careful, and do good due diligence.
