Because if they shorted this stock down to no bid, I'm sure the plan was to never cover those shares if the company goes under. Well when they see "things", no matter how small or insignificant like a court judgement in favor of VIC or a new filling on the Patent, that increases their risk that the price may go up to the point where serious losses for them could happen because they may have a crap load to cover..
