I think the timing and politics at the FDA for smaller faster and less expensive open label PoC trials like IBD is perfect for CTIX as a clinical stage bio. Last year my father was diagnosed with late stage lung cancer, incidentally he was also a long term holder of CTIX. We applied for admission to a clinical trial at Moffitt (Tampa). During the process we had second thoughts about going forward with the prospect of certain death if he were in the placebo arm. It felt like gambling with his life as there were several other drugs in late stage development and we didn't know which one would prove to be efficacious. It was a difficult choice as the outcome was totally unknown and a full day of traveling every week traveling every week hassle and hard on an 88 year old. The experience convinces me that the B UP open label PoC type trial is very attractive to patients greatly aiding recruitment and thus saving valuable time and money for sponsors and it's informative to the FDA, BP and the company in garnering expedited development status such as Fast Track, Break through Therapy, SPA and other designations which are valuable at the bargaining table. My hope is that CTIX can raise the funds necessary, by partnering one of their maturing indications, to proceed in like fashion for all IBD indications simultaneously.
