I believe that multi myeloma would require full blown FDA Trials if the drug is to be used in the U.S. The costs potentially go into the hundreds of millions.

I have a few friends with it and while they're in remission, they are monitored frequently, just as I am for leukemia. The treatment is different, but both have the potential of coming out of remission after years. I look forward to advances, but hopefully they are not needed for me or my friends.

As I understand the MM drug, it supplements existing treatment but doesn't have benefits by itself. The FDA usually wants monotherapy trials before permitting combined use. This may be awkward as volunteers would know that they're getting no benefit. The company might be smarter with trials in Israel that aren't sanctioned by the FDA until the FDA has seen data worthy of combined trials.

Of course it's possible that Trump will change the way the FDA operates, at least that's one thing I could agree with him about.
