Alex...show me the average pay of the CEO of the 25,000 through 30,000 largest public corporations. How about excluding the top 5,000? I know this is a hard concept to understand, but when you talk about the fortune 500 or the S&P 500 the CEO pool is extraordinarily exclusive. There's no argument that the executive pay in the Fortune 500 is excessive. But it becomes a laughable matter when the group cited is always the Warren Buffets, Bill Gates and CEO's in the S&P 500, or the Fortune 500. It may surprise you to discover that the vast majority of CEO's don't earn a compensation package that remotely resembles the oft cited CEO.
So show us the average compensation package of the ranked corporations from say #10,000 to #15,000. That's far more representative than the top 500 corporations.
