Not always true, the state in which you live in can make a difference. For example, where I live short term taxes take 53 percent of profit where longterm is around 15 to 20 percent depending on certain circumstances.

Plus if one believes it's a longterm investment, like I do, it makes perfect sense to buy and hold.
