Upon further checking, I found that the Panama plant has a capacity of 100 tons per year, which is only about 0.05% of annual US imports of farmed salmon. Hence, if AQB wants to have more than a minuscule market share, it will need to build additional company-owned plants or contract out the production of the fish to third parties (as is commonly done in the chicken industry). In any case, AQB would retain control of the genetics and would be solely responsible for hatching the AquAdvantage eggs. <<<
