Yeah I've been preaching GOOG is a perfect fit for a while now. TWTR could at least form a strategic partnership with GOOG. They could help expand TWTR's ad reach and increase impressions for a cut. TWTR could sell GOOG user data for them to exploit. GOOG could improve TWTR's front page search results to make it easier to collate real time news. And so on.

Or GOOG could just buy TWTR and do all this (and more) while bringing them in-house to cut TWTR's over-head for instant profits. GOOG is also terrible at making their own social media platforms (like Google+) but are great at monetizing popular platforms made by others (like YouTube), they need a stronger foothold in social media, they need to improve real time search result rankings and TWTR has a decade of user data for their AI to crunch through.

No idea why they don't just pull the trigger on acquiring TWTR.
