A Short, but Significant Update:
Summary – We completed final Florida Testing. Went great. Excited to say the least! We expect to begin production in Los Angeles next week with a rolling delivery to Kickstarter backers starting when Stix coming off the line and are packaged.
The Details
Katherine spent the better part of this week in Florida doing a final review of all the technologies needed to get into production. All went very well - She is Excited!!!
Florida Mixers – As some of you may remember there were significant issues with the technology to mix the raw product. After attempting and failing with three different technologies, we had a group of engineers custom design a mixing and pump system that turned out to be quite elegant, but most importantly functional. This was not cheap, costing well over an additional $50,000. Blending and pump issued solved!
Florida Test Run-This week we completed two successful test runs. Everything was beautiful!
Florida Health Department – We are waiting for final inspection and plan to begin production as soon as approval is granted. We are optimistic we will not have issues, but will know for sure in only a few business days.
California Location
The most important pieces of production equipment have been delivered and installed at the Los Angeles site. We felt it is important to have an additional site for production considering the issues at the main Florida location. Bringing up a second location has been extremely expensive, but we figured we are already way under water on the project, so we went all out to ensure we have adequate production.
Additionally, considering the large number of calls we are receiving from food brokers, stores and angel investors, we figure we will likely need the extra capacity. We expect to begin making Seasoning Stixs for Kickstarter backers from this Los Angeles location next week.
A Special Thanks
Thanks so much for all the support. We think we have a fantastic product here. Interest outside the Kickstarter community is off the charts and we have had a difficult time fending off all the requests for contracts and products supply. We have, however been able to put all these parties off until we fulfill our Kickstarter commitment.
We have had many requests for photos of the production equipment. We have provided very few and this has been intentional. Our manufacturing process is very innovative and designed from the ground up. It cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and far in excess of the monies raised. So, even though we have three patents, we don't want to teach anyone else how to make this innovative product. It's our little secret, but we can't thank all of you enough to helping us make this happen.
Thanks for your patience as we worked through our issues. We are confident we have overcome all the technology challenges.
