I'm just not buying or sweating that, and I'll explain why best I can. We'll stick to the article, and first take a look at this:

The Trump administration has been all over the place on this issue: Trump said that it “should be a state issue, state by state,” which is essentially how Obama handled it. But Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who as head of the Department of Justice is in charge of enforcing federal laws, as a senator previously said that “good people don’t smoke marijuana” and urged the Obama administration to take enforcement more seriously.

Now, I'm well aware that Jeff Sessions assured his inquisitors during his hearing that if Trump or any of his colleagues were found to be illegally collaborating with Russians, he was prepared to do his job and prosecute Trump et al. In other words, Trump is his commander in chief, but not his buddy. But let's face it. Sessions will do Trump's bidding, just as Holder did Obama's. That's the nature of the AG relationship, no matter how they try to portray it to the public.

So, although Sessions may be opposed to recreational MJ, I think the more important question is: How does Trump feel? I watched a lot of his speeches and the debates, even followed some of his many interviews, and not once was I under the impression that he has a strong anti-MJ stance. This does not seem to be an "issue" that he cares much about. So, if he doesn't view this as an important action item, would it be wise for him to further upset the balance? His ratings are already extremely low, and then there's this (end of that article):

What is clear, though, is that any crackdown would be very unpopular. A poll released on Thursday by Quinnipiac University found that 59 percent of US voters support marijuana legalization, and that 71 percent said the federal government should not crack down on states with marijuana legalization laws.

Why poke the bear? Granted, I'm aware that his own party will put pressure on him to crack down on this terrible "Schedule 1" drug (yes, that's sarcasm). Hopefully, his own advisors are well aware of what modern psychology and deep dives into revolutions in history have taught us. When a right is granted to people and then taken soon after, there will be absolute outrage. It's almost always perceived as an entitlement that is unjustly seized, and that makes people very angry very quickly.

That's why, no, I don't think Trump is going to pressure an anti-marijuana crackdown.
