I have a friend who has around a hundred clocks. His dad was a clock repairman and sometimes people brought him a clock to fix and when he gave them the price they didn't want to spend the money to fix it.
So they just left the clock and he fixed it. Sometimes he sold them but often kept them. Many have chimes and it would drive me nuts to listen to them going off every hour.
