Mine Safety and Health will be looking for PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) issues which should include hardhat, safety glasses with side shield protection, safety toed footwear, work pants and shirt, Class 2 traffic vest and possibly hearing protection and hand protection.

If anyone is exposed to an unprotected 6'+ vertical fall, fall protection will have to be provided (Qualified guardrail system or personal fall protection system.

Restriction/Guarding and installment of warning signs such as the fencing provided around conveyor system, Equipment shielding or guarding of moving parts such as motors, cogs, fly wheels and such will have to be maintained.

Qualified equipment operators with documented training or certifications for equipment operated.

An established LOTO (Lockout/Tagout: Hazardous Energy Control) Procedure in the event maintenance or equipment malfunction will have to be in place whereby all energy sources (electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, etc) must be identified, de-energized, locked out (actual pad lock) and tagged out.

Perform documented daily or shift inspections of equipment and heavy equipment and conduct documented weekly safety meetings. Daily toolbox JSA/PTA (Job Safety Analysis/ Pre-Task Assessment meetings.

Train new personal to the operations on their duties as it pertains to safety, etc.

If they do all of that as a minimum, Mine Safety and Health will be thrilled.
