Mr. Professor,

I've applied compost several inches thick on half the garden, in the process of spreading another pile to the other half.

I burned a pile of wood in the middle of the garden yesterday, and spread the ashes out. I've also been putting ashes from my wood smoker to the compost pile regularly. I think this should take care of the bio-char requirement for my soil???

This afternoon, I put powdered Azomite into a spreader and put it over the entire garden.

I'm going to be ordering the root stimulant (name escapes me) that Sumisu uses.

If I'm using all these additives to amend my soil and create a more perfect balance, do I still need or even want to use a 10-20-10 fertilizer with my onions? I remember you telling me that potatoes like a lot of phosphate also, should I fertilize them too?

I've made big swings this year. Not sure how far I should push the envelope. Any advice would be appreciated.

Part of gardening and being outdoors, is taking time to relax and reflect in our thoughts. I was thinking of how lucky I am to be able to draw upon the knowledge of people like yourself. In reality, the knowledge you share is some of the most valuable knowledge in the world. The ability to produce from nature, and pass it on to people smart enough to listen. Thank you!!!
