I'm sure a lot of you old buzzards have stayed up at night wondering whether or not Gen. Robert E. Lee and his family ever had a pet cat. Well wonder no more the answer is yes. According to Jonathan Horn, on page 121 of his book "The Man Who Would Not Be Washington - Robert E. Lee's Civil War and His Decision That Changed American History" the Lee family had a pet cat when they lived in Arlington Virginia. As war began to break out and the Lees had to leave Arlington, the cat was left in the care of a slave girl. Horn never gave the name of the cat or the breed but I assume it was an ordinary housecat with a name like Fluffy or something similar. Horn doesn't say if Fluffy and the Lees were ever reunited so now all of you will have something else to keep you up at night.
