Judge won’t extend order halting Trump immigration ban By Maria Sacchetti and Milton J. Valencia Globe Staff February 03, 2017
In a swift decision, a federal judge refused Friday to extend a restraining order in Boston that had halted the implementation of President Trump’s controversial immigration ban.
US District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton said in a 21-page order that lawyers with the American Civil Liberties Union have failed to demonstrate the need for an ongoing restraining order.
The judge said he was not deciding on the merits of the case, only that the restraining order that was granted early Sunday will not be extended.
This is a developing story.
