Cheynew, you are confusing trials. I referenced a tumor imaging dosimetry trial. Besides that fact, they use different mAbs: PGN650 as opposed to Bavituximab. They also start and stop at different dates.

I clearly remember when the imaging trial was starting up in June 2012 that they were only looking for 12 patients, but had set out the end date to be in March 2016. I found it difficult to believe that the trial would take that long with only 12 patients needed.

They were right on. It took all that time to get 11 volunteers. So they terminated the trial, on schedule, with 11 instead of 12 patients in March 2016.

I call the patients ‘volunteers because doctors were not offering cancer treatment for their tumors, but just imaging information with an experimental radioactive I-124-PGN650 unapproved drug. That means you volunteer to be infused with this substance with no treatment reward possible. The trial was also at only one center, Washington University. How many would volunteer for that? It’s no wonder it took four years to find enough patients. They got 11 of the 12 sought.
