Brokerages are making a killing too don't kid your self.

The Brokers/ Institutions are the ones responsible for allowing the naked Short to originate. Yes, it is naked, it is naked until DRYS hands the newly minted shares over to the owner who originated the Short who in turn must hand the shares over to the Brokerage / Institution.

So..., the Brokerages are just as responsible and make very good money in the end when the stock eventually rallys and they sell their shares to retail.
