About the extra https:// showing up, I believe that can be altered in the about:config of firefox with these two instructions at least - browser.urlbar.formatting.enabled .. browser.urlbar.trimURLs
which have to do with url formatting and shortening and display features of a url to the user.

Setting both false, true or any combination doesn't prevent the colon from disappearing on ihub suppressed links in my browser.

This has been going on even before I installed win7 sp1 and after I removed win7 sp1 for other problems. I have made no known other adjustments that I recall. Windows update is disabled on my sys as well.
