The big difference with Drys compared to shipping in general is the involvement of GE, if you do any DD on the guy you would steer clear. He is only out for himself and has nothing but disdain for the shareholder.

A quote of his from 2005 when he took DRYS to the Nasdaq when asked why he was doing it

'Because Americans are the dumbest investors around, and there's lots of liquidity in this market.'"

a quote about him

If there was a contest for worst all time CEO in the world, Economou would be in the top three. The owner of Dryships (NASDAQ:DRYS) is possibly the most arrogant and uncaring CEO of all time. He is a habitual diluter of shareholder value and not to be trusted.

He has a history of complete self interest and uses DRYS and as a private not public company, he uses family and friends on the boards of his companies and they are all intertwined with one another lending the other moneyor getting paid management fees from another
The only loser over time is the shareholder

I invite you to do some DD on this guy and then you will see how for the last 12 years he has took the American investor for a ride. He has it worked out as long as he tells you he is going to screw you in advance the SEC keeps letting him do it and he know its.

Just a couple of the literally hundreds of articles which should serve as warning to who you are dealing with here
