If you are able to hold the investment for a year the gains are taxed at 20%. I believe that's the rate. It was 15 at one time.

If it's less than a year you are taxed at your tax bracket rate. I would assume that the 900k would send you up to the highest bracket but I don't know for sure whether they are added to your income or set aside separately. I've never had the pleasure of experiencing such a phenomonn :)
