The fact of the matter is that we are entering the fuel industry which has had billion dollar players for decades with virtually no changes to fuel, except the lead coming out of it in the 70's and ethanol as an additive in the past decade. Indy cars run on Methonal because it is a more powerful fuel than gasoline. Ethanol is made from corn, is so expensive to manufacture that it has to be subsidized by our gov't (our taxes) and is much less powerful than gasoline. Methonal on the other hand is about $.60 cents per gallon and is made from natural gas which the US has more of than any other country. Methonal is so powerful, that it has to be diluted with low octane gasoline to get the octane down to 96. So if one were to have a preference on which additive they would want to put in their fuel - ethonal or Methonal- I'm curious as to which one you would select?
