I disagree. America as a society has grown more and more diverse, and more and more accepting of lifestyles other than traditional, religous based norms.

I personally have NO problem with any two people of any sex deciding to make a lifetime commitment to each other, and therefore should be allowed all the LEGAL rights that a government 'sanctioned' (for lack of a better word) marriage entials.

it's completely up to the COUPLE to determine if their own PERSONAL religous beliefs allow their marriage to be 'valid' (I hate that term) in the eyes of whatever diety they deem to be important to them. The govt needs to stay the hell out of it.
