Reimbursement for injectable and implantable medications that are administered by a healthcare provider generally require a J-Code, or code for the drug itself. We submitted our application for a permanent J-Code for Probuphine in June 2016. On November 1, 2016, the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, or CMS, released a final rule that assigned a specific J-Code for Probuphine beginning January 1, 2017.
