Elizabeth Warren Roasts Ben Carson After He Touts His "Morality" To Defend Potential Corruption

Elizabeth Warren was having none of it when Carson tried to dodge her questions.

Dr. Ben Carson went in front of the Senate on Thursday to make an argument as to why he should be confirmed as the head of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Everything was going well enough for the failed GOP presidential candidate who is uniquely unqualified to hold the office and lead the $47 billion agency that helps poor people find housing, that is, until it was Senator Elizabeth Warren's (D-Mass.) turn to ask him questions.

The senator, who has long been a champion of underprivileged Americans, wanted to know if Carson plans to use his position to benefit Donald Trump's business organization. Senator Warren asked the doctor if he would commit to not allowing any company linked to Trump from contracting with HUD. "Can you assure me that not a single taxpayer dollar you give out will financial benefit the president-elect or his family?” she asked.

Carson responded to her question by saying,"I can assure you that the things that I do are driven by a sense of morals and values." Completely unimpressed with his assurances that his "morals" would protect taxpayers, she responded:

“It’s not about your good faith. My concern is whether or not, among the billions of dollars you will be responsible for handing out in grants and loans, can you just assure us that not $1 will go to benefit either the president-elect or his family?”

The former GOP presidential candidate tried to answer Senator Warren's question as vaguely as possible by claiming that it would not be his "intention" to make decisions that financially benefit the PEOTUS. He went on to say that he would manage the department in a way that benefits the American people, but he would not refuse a company a contract if they were linked to Trump:

“If there happens to be an extraordinary program that’s working for millions of people, and it turns out that someone that you’re targeting is going to gain $10 from it, am I going to say, ‘No, the rest of you Americans can’t have it?’ ” he said. “I think logic and common sense probably would be the best way.”

Notice he tried to make it seem as if these companies would make an insignificant amount of money if given a contract worth millions of dollars? Elizabeth Warren noticed it too and shot back,“The problem is that you can’t assure us that HUD money — not of $10 varieties but of multimillion-dollar varieties — will not end up in the president-elect’s pockets."

In reality, Ben Carson is the perfect guy for the job. Not for the American people, but for Trump. He has absolutely no qualifications that would help him run the department, unlike the previous heads of HUD and that could make him very easy to manipulate. Trump has already said that he will not completely divest from his company, instead he has chosen to hand his power over to his sons with the "promise" that they will not speak to him about their deals. Everybody with half a brain, however, knows damn well that the PEOTUS will still have his hands all over his business, that's why he did not divest. So, it stands to reason that Carson, will at some point, have a bid in front of him from one of Trump's companies and it is very telling that he refused to make a pledge to not make the president-elect richer when given the opportunity.

This exchange between the Senator Warren and Ben Carson, more than any other, proves that we are about to witness the most corrupt and self-serving presidency in our nation's history.
