the shorters still have to buy the shares, and they are taking the risk that if they don't buy them to make delivery, someone else will. thats just the fact. its not counterfeiting at all, its just like if i sell your house to someone, and they buy it, to make delivery of that house i am going going to have to buy it from you. what if you say, "my price is 500,000,000 dollars and i sold it for 100,000 dollars... well i guess i'm screwed then.
