Like I say, I've been doing this a long time. Never seen that one.
Forget about the names of the two companies (though it IS very mysterious why they would rename company A as Progress Watch just before dissolving it). The truly bizarre thing is the shift in ownership from owning shares in one company to owning shares in a different company.
What if one day you owned 100 shares of IBM and then the next day you find out that you no longer owned shares in the business machine company (now called Old IBM) and instead you owned 100 shares in a new company with the same ticker symbol IBM (and either called International Business Machines or International BS Manufacturing). Would the new company have S-1 registration? Wouldn't FINRA be required to sign off on shifting the ticker to the new company? How can this stuff happen?
And why did it happen?
I am obviously NOT an investment advisor.
