I'm watching shares of Sears Hometown Stores (SHOS $4.85) collapsing. That was another effort a few years ago for Sears to capitalize on their "strong brand recognition" with a franchise concept to be sold to the public. A smaller version of Sears mostly for smaller markets.
I actually know someone who bought one. He's a smart guy and an old-timer in the hardware business. Problem is, he's an oldtimer, and no one under 60 has much admiration of the Sears Name.
Apparently the Hometown Stores get much of their inventory thru Sears!
Sears is about out of bullets (hope they save one!)
