if they dont have such a test structure how do they know their solution will work

it is a major law of physics / electrical engineering that resistance increases with distance and we are talking minor current being generated and long in comparison distances before being aggregated into a more powerful current.
If they havent got a 20x10 set up in the lab they dont have a product
