Expanded research will happen under Trump. He is pro-economic growth and will appreciate the billions in state tax revenue from cannabis sales. This will help Trump reduce the size of the Federal Government.

Sessions will not go against Trump. Neither will other Cabinet members. Only loyalists need apply. Keep in mind that Cannabis Reformer and GOP Rep Dana Rohrabacher is being considered for a Cabinet position.
