Some are, some are not. Same as here in America.
Some of the brightest, most articulate and forward thinking people I know are native Spanish speakers. People with a finger on the real pulse on the world.
Engaging an educated Mexican is a real treat. The conversation is bright, airy, and generally positive.
How many Americans speak one of more languages? How many even care to?
How many Americans insist when traveling in foreign countries the natives respond to them in English or they get mighty frustrated?
If nothing else, a polyglot has a more rounded brain capacity.
And if the written language is pictoral, as in Chinese, it actually activates and enhances both lobes of the brain to work in a more integrated fashion...
A side note, ancient Sanskrit is the most brain altering and feeding language of all the known languages. It follows the brain's natural neural pathways of comprehension and is closest to the root of 99% of all languages.
