The story according to Verb? I call BS.

They want to control the narrative. The "OS" as told by Verb is the future! It will be an industry common denominator! A "Totally Immersive Robotic Surgical Environment!" How does it become an "industry standard" when there's only 1 company with a med robot in the field? Further, does the Verb OS become a selling feature? Or just an added expenses because Titan can, or will come with it's own integration?

IMO. This Verb OS story is a distraction at this point in SPORTS development. There's no DISTINCT advantage to adopt the Verb OS. Except to believe it - just because they say so. Verb would like the story to become "THE" OS story as a mimic of Microsoft's Windows. The difference between the MS business model and that of the Verb OS is that MS had hundreds of thousands of workstations, standard business app's, custom app's and the one-dimensional DOS base of customers from which to convert. EVERY peripheral attached to a DOS device had to have a separate device driver developed. Which is my point - Verb wants a MS business model, but only has 1 product from which to leverage in the field. At best it will have 3 in the next 2 years. The Verb OS is only a story that's getting repeated - and hopefully so many times that it becomes "the truth." I say "not so fast," and call BS.

Why???? It's just not possible to determine at this point in time if Titan will have an integrated OS with multiple EMR data inputs because we're looking for SPORT 1.2 or 1.3. Arrrrrrg!! If they need EMR data then bring in a damn big screen TV hooked to the patient data system and have a tech drive it during the procedure. Whala! Has robotic surgical marketing brainwashed everyone engaged in the conversation with a phrase like "Totally Immersed Environment?" I think that some think and treat Verb like the Pied Piper of robotic surgery. Drink the Kool Aid if you want, but again, I say "not so fast."

My point? Stay focused on SPORT. And.......They sure as hell better not be delaying the development of a fully functioning surgical product just to add additional data inputs. Seriously - does the patient data have to be integrated to SPORT? Take the shortest path to certification and launch this robot. Then we'll see who controls the conversation about this BS (I mean OS.)

An analogy: Should we design a hammer with built-in knuckle protection and a safety shield? Or just put on gloves and safety glasses? REGARDLESS, I hope Titan stays focused on the certification of the robot V1.0..

JMO.

Happy Thanksgiving to all and a pleasant week to all of our friends in the Great White North.
