That is the question! Could the market makers even absorb that many shares if they were stepping in as sole buyer? Do/did MMs even have that many shares in reserve to be able to act as the sole seller to someone looking to buy that many? I'd guess the answer to both questions is no. That would suggest there was a non market maker buyer and a non market maker seller.
