But that only explains when I am getting my check, and for how much. It does not explain that it is a credit towards next year's taxes.
But it's not just a credit towards next years taxes. From the article Dennis linked to,
"Because this change is retroactive, the government will owe everybody who already paid some of those taxes (through withholdings from their paychecks from January until now) some money back."
