First, Dr. Figovsky is not a star in nanotechnology. People like Stoddart and Mirkin at Northwestern or Bao at Stanford are considered "stars" in this field.
That's not to say he doesn't have solid work in his career, because he does. He just doesn't hold the level of prestige you have assigned him simply because you want your investment to do well.
Second, go back and look at this PR. What patent does HCTI own? Also, as of yet, the only mention of this award I can find is from this HCTI. The IFIA hasn't confirmed this yet. The only thing I can confirm is a 2006 Golden Angel award from the IFIA to Dr. Figovsky.
Just look at the company's track record since your involvement and then ask the question about his reputation again. You should easily be able to see that he doesn't care about you or his reputation. He cares about the same thing the rest of this management team does, taking as much money as quickly as possible from investors.
