Being a spectator in open court is an eye opening experience and I would suggest that anyone at least go down to their local court house and sit in the peanut gallery to watch one afternoon of cases. It's simply amazing. I consider myself a pretty decent person and I can tell you some of the things I've seen plead down to is laughable. I know the system is overworked and prisons are overcrowded, but when I saw a lady with multiple priors get sentenced to a couple of hours of community service for bashing a lady with a 40 ounce bottle of beer at the grocery store in front of her two kids, I almost puked. We really need more prisons and we need a way to keep them their on their own dime, not the taxpayers. No more TVs, gyms or free meals for inmates. When I got sent to my room without dinner when I was a kid, I got the message. Like Rufus said, we need to hit these people where it hurts the most, in the pocket!
