Law Enforcement Organization Supports Legalization in Nevada
On Oct. 27, 2016, Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, a nonprofit organization of criminal justice professionals, endorsed Nevada’s ballot Question 2, a ballot initiative that would legalize recreational marijuana in the state.

“Responsibly regulating marijuana will help to drive out the risky and untaxed illegal marijuana market – thus reducing the power of gangs and improving public safety for Nevada’s residents and law enforcement officers,” said Maj. Neill Franklin (Ret.), executive director of LEAP. “Police will then be able to refocus valuable resources to help bring justice to victims of serious crimes.”

If voters approve Question 2, Nevada would establish a regulatory framework for recreational marijuana from seed to sale, tax wholesale marijuana at 15%, and allow adults 21 and older to possess up to an ounce of marijuana flower and up to an eighth of an ounce of marijuana extract.

According to a recent poll, support for recreational legalization in Nevada has garnered a slight lead over the opposition, with 47% of participants supporting Question 2 and 43% opposing it.
