The Fish are Jumping and the Cotton is High...

Summertime, one of the songs in the famous Gershwin opera, Porgy and Bess, laments the arrival of summer doldrums in a sleepy South Carolina fishing village. This has become synonymous with "nothing happens" in the July-August timeframe.

Up the east coast in the "little village" of Manhattan, traders, brokers, money managers, investment analysts, and the other "gerbils" we love to hate, have jumped off the stock market merry-go-round and have fled to The Hamptons for their annual summer vacation. Historically, this is the time of year when activity slows until the Labor Day weekend.

In a press release at the start of 2006, the CEO of Integral Technologies informed shareholders that this is the go-to-market year. To be sure, interesting events have taken place since that landmark statement, not the least of which was our participation in the National Plastics Exposition in Chicago in June. Bellingham reports that the phone has been ringing off the hook since NPE. Based on this, one gets the impression that the Integral front office is as active as a disturbed hornets' nest, with calls from one materials manufacturer after another next coming in.

That being the case, and with 121 days to go before the end of the go-to-market year, Bellingham will have to issue press releases at a prodigious rate to meet the number of news items alluded to in the now famous 6 June Jasper meeting.

Monday, September 4th is Labor Day. It marks the end of the summer doldrums. The "gerbils" will be back in force on the Wall Street merry-go-round. Business will be revving up for the final quarter race to the year-end cash register symphony. Normally, this is a good time for business and investors.

Hopefully, Integral will make those long awaited announcements once the summer doldrums end. Afterall, the fish are jumping!
