I can't blame the guy for sounded irritated at all.... in fact, I'm surprised that he took even a few moments to talk on the phone. And you're right, he's probably getting hundreds of calls, and even more emails, and I'm sure many are not from courteous shareholders (as you seem to be). I bet he's gotten a lot of mud slung his way the last 10 days or ....
