There were very few people at the lake that day. For you know 3 personally means you would have to either liver there, have family and friends who live there, or have family and friends who were participating in the event i.e. are jetski/water-sports enthusiasts aligned to the watercross brand.
None of this impossible of course.

Also - did these 3 people state that they saw the thing flying?
